Wednesday, June 12, 2013
Jeff Burdick has been named as the new executive director of the Ingham County Land Bank. The Land Bank is a county authority and strategic economic tool that supports growth and investment in the community.
Burdick began his career as an assistant planner for the City of Naperville, Illinois. Since then he has held positions throughout the U.S. as a city and community planner living and working in the Greater Lansing area; Evanston, Illinois; Genesee County, Michigan; and North Carolina.
“I’ve always been fascinated by cities, which have captivated me since I was a child,” Burdick says. “I feel that my familiarity with Lansing, my background in Land Banking and my community relations experience should serve the Land Bank well.”
Burdick graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He went on to receive his master’s degree in urban planning and regional development. During his studies, Burdick served as an Americorp volunteer for a housing non-profit in Detroit. There he coordinated community and small business outreach efforts as part of an in-place industrial park project.
Burdick will work closely with outgoing Executive Director Mary Ruttan, who will stay on with the Land Bank to help facilitate special projects.
