Ingham County Land Bank Showcases 16 Homes
Monday, September 24, 2012
The Ingham County Land Bank is highlighting sixteen homes it has fixed up in Lansing at its Fall Land Bank Showcase.
These are places that were abandoned or foreclosed on, and have been vacant for at least one year. Now they've been redone with some major improvements.
We met the Land Bank chairman on the 1300 block of Lenawee, and he explained how the organization is having an impact in that area.
"We've had a tremendous impact right in this little few block area. We've removed about six blighted structures, and we're in the process of finishing up four new constructions. You have to refresh your housing stock," said Eric Schertzing.
This year, the Land Bank has sold 40 of its remodeled homes, and it has another 50 still looking for buyers.
